How a British Pie Shop in Downtown Chehalis Became Shona’s Cafe

Over the last five and a half years, I have had the privilege of slowly growing my British café in downtown Chehalis. When I opened, I actually only had two months to set up shop with. From concept to name, logo, menu, barista training, and equipment, I managed to piece together what would become Shona’s Food Company.

As if the challenges of starting a food business weren’t enough, I opened during COVID, but it worked. I felt my concept for the café allowed customers, mostly stuck at home, to travel through my food while we all waited for life to return to normal.

To be honest, I never thought I would have stuck with making British meat pies, pastries, and baps all these years. But instead of feeling stuck, I fell in love with perfecting British classics while experiencing the freedom of stuffing my eat pies and pastries with whatever my heart fancied.

Fast forward to 2026, and I’m ready for my space to represent my craft and pay homage to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, countries that shaped me. With the help of my landlord Brad Gregory of The Ewe and I, Experience Chehalis, Heidi at Crunch Creative, Mail Plus and ESCO Pacific Signs, I’m ready to officially announce the evolution of Shona’s Food Company to Shona’s Cafe.

The exterior of the shop has a fresh coat of paint, and I’ve updated the logo and built out a new menu, but the same great British fare with Northern Irish/American flair is always guaranteed.
